The International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Republic of Korea staged an epic event on May 30th, 2023: the roundtable on the revolutionary IMO MASS Code. It was an explosion of ideas on the development of the MASS Code and the extraordinary autonomous operation technology.
Among the speakers were Marco Molica Colella, coordinator of Autoship at CiaoTech – PNO Group, and Lars Andreas Lien Wennersberg from SINTEF, who discussed the presentation: Autonomous Shipping Initiative for European Waters – Proposal for development of MASS code and commercialisaiton of autonomous operation technology, aimed at presenting the Short Sea Shipping demo in AUTOSHIP, providing some recommendations to future work on the IMO MASS code based on our research, and discussing short and long term developments towards commercial MASS operations.
